Many materials and supplies (lumber, steel, heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, office supplies, office furniture, copy machine, etc) can be purchased or rented in Rosarito and Tijuana, thus further reducing your need to export many items from the U.S. Buying goods in México is frequently less expensive and more convenient and will save you time, shipping costs, duties, broker fees and (in some instances) permit fees. Chain discount stores such as Costco, Office Depot, Home Depot, Smart & Final, and Sam’s Club are located, in Tijuana. Most stores carry the same merchandise sold in the U.S.
A full range of services is also available locally including computer and copy machine rental (Copy Qualy 011 52 (664) 634 2275), copying services (similar to Kinko’s), one hour photo shops, blue prints, etc. See the list of local services provided in this manual, or ask for further recommendations from the studio’s administration office. There is a sales tax of 10%. This tax is called I.V.A. and is applied to goods, services, tolls, gasoline, hotels, restaurants, etc.
